Star Dust
For Kelda
I have read that we are all
made of dust which has sailed
across unmeasurable space on winds
of light
that the carbon molecules
of which we are all composed were
formed in the very heart of a star
that even the iron which
carries oxygen round our bodies
in our blood was created by an
exploding sun
that without pressure there
can be no diamond
And I am moved to think
that the dying star which gave its dust to you
must have been the
brightest sun of all.

Star Dust would be half the poem it is without her input
